Makes sense. addTag ends up causing a render each time, which is pretty wasteful if it's part of a loop.

One option is to wait to set up the tag list until you have the data you need

    success: function(data) {
        $('#tag-selector').tags({
            tagData: data.tagList
        });
    }
});

The assumption I was working off of when I wrote this was that changes after initialization would be user-driven. Is your use case one where you'd need to add tags from the result of an ajax call after the tag component has already been rendered?
