Hi Matthias,

there are two problems:

  • Alhough g:move_auto_indent was set to 0, vim-move still wanted to re-indent in block mode. This is fixed now.
  • In your case, g:move_auto_indent is probably set to the default which is 1. However, re-indenting in Markdown files doesn't make much sense because the filetype plugin does not know about language-specific syntaxes.

So, here is how you can prevent this in the future:

  1. Update vim-move.
  2. Disable auto indentation for Markdown files as seen here.

In any case, thanks for the report.

Hi @matze,

thanks for the fast bug fix. I updated the plugin and still have the same error. But setting

let g:move_auto_indent = 0

in my vimrc fixed the problem. I am fine with this ticket now, but is the change you made the right one?

Yes, these two points are mandatory and go hand in hand, sorry if that wasn't clear. Again, it all boils down if you need auto indentation or not. I do for "normal" source code but like in your case not for Markdown. Unfortunately, this cannot be covered in a more general way than with this setting.
