Yeah that's possible, usually people who make malware like that would use os.name and if it returns 'nt' you know you're on windows. But you would be missing quiet a few of things if you changed to linux. Let me rank it:
Impossible:

  • registry injection

Very very hard:

  • mic recording
  • reverse shell
  • file delete (there is a lot of management using rwx, so file access could be difficult quiet often)

Very hard:

  • key logger
  • processes
  • webcam
  • grabber (the locations for passwords are in completely different places)

Doable:

  • file upload
  • file download
  • file exploring
  • screenshots

It might not be worth the effort, but making the compiler work on linux that would be good I think
