Cannot confirm. Is "Format of filename" option correctly configured to create
an album/artist folder?

The format file name is left at default.
I have changed nothing, this only started happening since the last update.
Example:
What SHOULD be happening: music folder>Eddie Money>Greatest Hits>songs
What IS happening now: music folder>songs

With the default setting XLD should not create any folders. You can get the old
version from http://code.google.com/p/xld/downloads/list and check the behavior.

Hi,
If I want to continue to use the new version, what is the proper format or
syntax that I should use to have XLD create folders like I'm expecting?

Well, this place is a bug tracker, so we must confirm if the report is a valid
or invalid. If you argue that it is a valid report, please prove it at first.

The behavior has not been changed in the new version.

I am having the same issue (this is my only issue). I am running the most up to
date versions of XLD and and Lion. I have set a desktop folder in which to
place by ripped albums prior to moving them to my NAS server. I cannot get an
album folder to appear in desktop folder, just the individual songs appear with
all the information I require.I have tried both default and custom settings to
try and get around this. For information I have custom "format for filename"
set to %A %T %n - %t but no sure if this has any relevance to this issue.

I now create an album folder in my desktop folder, for each album I rip,
specify this in my XLD output directory preference. Each song downloads to this
directory.

I move my album folder containing the songs into my NAS server. All the album
content and information sits in my server as I want it.

It would help if I did not have to set up a separate album folder for each rip
and direct the XLD output directory preference to my album folder. Please offer
any advice.

Roger

"%A %T %n - %t" does not create any folder. "%A/%T/%n - %t" should do.

  • Changed state: Invalid

I don't think this is an invalid issue. I tried to do the same and failed.
Neither the above reported "%A/%T/%n - %t" nor my preferred "%T/n% - %t" works.
After switching to the "General" tab and back to "File naming" XLD always
selects "default"

The problem really seems to be the data handling when switching between tabs.
Its not the custom filename feature itself. I got it to work, but its brittle.
Stepping through the tabs activates the default file handling again.

I have been having the same issue of an album folder not being created within
the Artist folder despite multiple attempts. I am using the latest XLD version
148.1. See the attached screenshot showing the naming convention and the
output file structure.

I am not experiencing Hartmut's problem of the settings not sticking -- so far
as I know. The reason I say "so far as I know" is that there's no visual cue,
so far as I am aware, that the Profile I've selected under the Profile tab is
actually the one that's being used by XLD. If it's not, then I think the
output would be reflecting the default rather than the "custom" I set up.

Hmm? %A/%T %n - %t does not create an album folder (no slash between %T and %n).
%A/%T/%n - %t should do.

@tmkkmac. Thank you! You are a god. I am an idiot. I obviously wasn't
reading the syntax correctly. Worked. I'm a happy man!

Thanks,
%A/%T %n - %t seems to work.

@16 traudi. Not, apparently for me. Adding the "/" between %T and %n did
though.
