Seems to be crashing with the specific AIFF file (not a Lion issue). Can you
identify the problematic file?

The log says it crashed when reading tags in the AIFF file.

thats really strange i converted the same tracks using max and no issues. in
10.6 snow i did the same thing with xld it never gave me a issue is there some
setting to de select with the tags in xld so it does not try to change them? i
have no idea but if i use lets say the same tracks in aiff and only do 10
albums it does not crash but if i do lets say 30 albums it crashes it for some
reason does not like more than 30 what it does is it says scanning and crashes
i think its a lion issue i never had xld crash ever in snow and i would batch
convert the same files i have now with like 400 albums with no issue very
strange? i had flac files also same thing crash i didn't get the log for that
at the time

A feature to read tags from AIFF files was implemented recently (since
20110611). The crash should not happen before that.

I found the issue i converted my aiff files to apple lossless useing iTunes
than i used xld to convert the apple lossless files to aac and it didn't hang
at all it worked fine and didn't lock up in the scanning process so i think the
issue has to do with batch conversion from aiff to aac on 20 albums or more
there might be some issue with xld not liking the album tags in the aiff format
because i converted the same albums to apple lossless than used xld and no
issues at all there might be a bug in batch conversion from aiff to aac in XLD
so i hope that helps that was my finding! I hope that points you in the right
direction to patching it in the updates!

...So, as I said before, could you identify the problematic AIFF file that
brings the crash?

Well, no response from the reporter... I want to fix a bug in the id3 tag
parser that causes this crash, and the problematic AIFF file is very helpful to
spot the bug.

Like I said it's not my ID tags in the files I used iTunes to make my aiff
files I used max audio converter and never had a issue with my aiff files &
like I said before also in 10.6 snow same aiff files not a issue
If I convert all my aiff to apple lossless in iTunes and import to XLD it works
fine but I should not have to do that to make it work I like XLD for the access
to AAC True VBR but I may have to stop using it and find something else the
secure ripping locks of my Mac mini it's only a few months old and I have to
restart 2 times to get the disc out of my drive I have used max secure ripping
no issue I don't have anymore things to say I have told you a million things
about the issue my files our fine work in every other encoder no issues XLD is
the issue 10.7 broke it try it for yourself take 50 albums in aiff and watch
XLD crash I know what I am talking about I don't even know if I care at this
point thanks anyways

I'm not saying that your AIFF file is a problem. My program, XLD has an issue
with your specific AIFF file. I guess you have an error message like
-[NSConcreteData getBytes:range:]: location * exceeds data length *
in Console.app when reading the problematic file.
Of course I've already tried with 10.7 and cannot find any AIFF file which
causes the crash.
