I see 2 problems:

1. More serious one - let imagine that situation:
   I am WHITE and make move with queen (or bishop, rook or other piece) and make checkmate against the BLACK king. Next turn is for BLACK and in that turn, - according to chess rules - BLACK should turn over checkmate-situation and other moves shoul be not allowed, but now I can make any another move and leave checkmate.

2. Less serious one - in chess (I never played chess professional) I remember rule, that when I make checkmate, I should say "Checkmate!". So I think it will be good to visiualize this moment - for example - red writings 'CHECKMATE', or red border around king-square, or something like this.
