This is an annoyance for instructors who mess something up and just want to blow away the assignment. Often they mess something up with the groups.
I'd like to find out how hard this would be. There might be an easy partial fix to just "hide" an assignment so that students don't see it.

I will be claiming this issue.

I don't think Karel was able to make much progress on this one, but it turns out that we really need the ability to hide assignments. This has become a pretty high priority item for the weekend's sprint.

I've created a 0.11.0 milestone and added this issue. Looks like we've got to do another Rails 2 based release before we can think of a Rails 3 based 1.0. Thoughts?

We should perhaps break this up into 3 separate issues: 1. hide assignments, 2. delete assignments, 3. add start date to assignments. Here are the markus-dev threads:

I'll give hiding assignments a shot.

Deleting assignments is not in 0.11.0, hiding assignments will be. Resetting milestone.

We keep looking at this, but there are so many dependencies in the db to do it right. I'm closing it as too low priority (and risky).
