@balmas : experiencing trouble with git init, the command line says :
C:\Users\MCB\PaperProject>git init
'git' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Find the place where git is installed by source tree and use the full path (eg if it's in Users\MarieClaire\Sourcetree you would type C:\Users\Marie-Claire\Sourcetree\git init)

Some additional references, on using the command line, which is probably essential to master:

http://dosprompt.info/

Those are really just basic introductions to the commands, and it might be entirely clear from them what the point is.

This looks like it might be an interesting series -- it's focused more on the practical of certain tasks that are relevant for web site designers

I'm sure there are others out there too. I think Windows is a bit miserable for all this unfortunately because some things that just work on mac and linux are made much more complicated by windows. One thing we might want to consider doing is getting you comfortable with using a linux VM.

Thanks @balmas ! I will follow up on all this, and I'm definitely up for trying a Linux VM!

So far, all I've been able to figure out about the command line is what $ means....
