@thebod should be able to know. We changed something so 1.8 got correctly marked as alpha/beta, dont know anymore if we used a stable flag from pear or did a hardcoded exception.

Hi,
what's the status of this issue? I still only see version 1.8.0.0-alpha1 in the repo. Is this going to be fixed or is there another way to install the magento core via composer?
