I have some experience in another project with the websocket functionality of ESPAsyncWebServer and streaming content to the GUI. I think this might be interesting to incorporate, but of course having some kind of generic dashboard in the front end will significantly increase the scope of this framework, which can be a good thing or a bad thing ;).

The dashboard functionality over websocket is added in v1.6.0. I am curious what you think!

Looks like ESPAsyncWebServer has a socket implementation 🤔 didn't have much luck with the above, so will try that instead

I was just thinking for people creating IoT projects that read values from a sensor, it would be great to be able to view values in realtime/near realtime, and I saw there are socket server implementations, so thought I'd tfloat the idea - I'd sure be interested in seeing how you've done it
