We can use layer-list with multiple item in that list with different colors.

<layer-list xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
    <!-- solids that simulate shadow !-->
    <item>
        <shape>
            <corners android:radius="@dimen/radius_corner"></corners>
            <solid android:color="#10CCCCCC" />
            <padding android:top="2dp" android:right="2dp"
                android:bottom="2dp" android:left="2dp" />
        </shape>
    </item>

    <item>
        <shape>
           ...
        </shape>
....
    </item>
</layer-list>

from shadow.
