Panel behaviour issues about chrome-panel-tabs HOT 9 CLOSED

Actually, it loses it's "stay on top" behaviour if it's anywhere that's not the bottom right-hand corner. Is this intended behaviour?

To be frank, I don’t know...

All of the window management stuff for panels is handled by the browser. I can’t modify the behaviour at all using the extension, save for resizing panels and moving detached panels (ones that are not in the bottom right-hand corner).

The situation you’re describing doesn’t sound like intended behaviour. You might want to bring that up in the Chromium discussion group or even report a bug with upstream. The panels experiment is still in development, so things might change at any time.

The latter one is a bit outdated and pertains to Chromium OS from which the feature was implemented into Chromium. I can’t seem to find any information about behaviour with multiple monitors, so this might be a thing the developers haven’t thought about yet.

The UX document mentions the “[a]bility to detach panels to regular floating ‘always on top’ windows on ChromeOS.” It could mean that the current behaviour of panels not staying on top when detached is incorrect. Personally, I’d like to see that changed.

I marked this issue as “invalid” since it’s not in the scope of the extension, at least yet, but I’d like to have any further discussion about Chrome’s panel behaviour here in the comments.

Do you by any chance use a chromebook or the Crosh shell?

Nope, I’m using OS X and occasionally Arch Linux. Are you thinking of opening the shell as a panel?

Could you elaborate on that? Preferably by creating a new, separate issue. Does it show an error, have layout problems or does the panel not open at all?

I'm having the same issue. I have a dual monitor setup, if I move the window to a second monitor it loses its docked property.

It looks like Chrome doesn’t create separate “docking areas” for each display. I’m pretty sure it should.

Since it’s an issue in Chrome, you should report a bug over there. I did a quick search and didn’t find any issues mentioning panels and multiple displays. If you create one, please post a link to it here so other people can star it and help it get noticed.
