@nothub Thanks for the detailed error description!
I was able to reproduce the issue on another system running xfwm4 v4.18.0, so I think this is xfwm4 version related.
It seems that events are propagated in different order than on earlier versions, but I may have already a potential fix.
Could somebody try to follow the dev install instructions and install cortile via remote source from the develop
branch.
Please let me know if this fixes the loop action behavior.

I'm using xfce 4.16 and i have that problem too, i tried the develop version by installing it via remote source from develop branch by run that: go install github.com/leukipp/cortile@develop
,and after finished i found it in /home/myname/go/bin and it's worked good and that fixed the problem of loop that happen when maximizing window.

The loop behavior should be fixed with v2.3.2.
Feel free to reopen or creating a new issue if you run into any other problems.

Exactly the same behavior on Fedora 39 XFCE spin (xfce 4.18.4) (Thunar 4.18.8)
I have a systemd to make Cortile always restart. So whenever I get stuck I just quit Cortile via tray icon.
But beside this issue, I absolutely love this brilliant app!!
Thank you so much for sharing your brilliance with the rest of us ;) @leukipp !!!
