Sadly, it seems that way. Luckily, this project is Open Source.
There are several improvements made in several forks out there in the wild. I'm trying to pull things together a bit in my own fork. All help is welcome, but at least for now there is PHP 7 compatibility, vulnerability fixes and other good stuff created by the community!

@leenooks Maybe it would be nice to update README.md to mark this project as legacy and deprecated...and to archive this repo? If you don't plan to maintain the project anymore, then let's act its death?
