I managed to get it working'ish I had to manually add a link to firefox so it can understand the "Open IDE" link.
Go to about:config in your Firefox browser
Right-click -> New -> Boolean -> Name: network.protocol-handler.expose.learn-ide -> Value -> false
Close the browser down and relaunch it again.
Try opening an learn-ide:// link it will ask which application, be sure to set atom as default.
It works!!
Next issue the project does not import into atom. :(
