div ["data-target"]: "the_value"

"data-target": "target_element" is supposed to work but there is a bug in the current version of MoonScript.

Another alternative syntax is

div { "data-target": "the_value" }

or you can use the Lua built in iterator functions:

for i, item in ipairs @items
    div item
