Sadly, we first have to get our hands on some free (and correctly licensed) textures which we can use instead of minecraft's original textures.

Or do you mean something like singleplayer?

I mean being able to play without internet, without logging in

It would require a server to be downloaded in order to play, and I saw you opening issues at Cuberite, so is Leafish gonna be shipped with it?

PureTryOut avatar PureTryOut commented on August 23, 2024

That would not be logical imo. But then again, who knows, could be a fun endeavour.
But yeah to be able to have offline play a default well licensed resource pack is required (not just textures). #27

Things that would be great:

  • Playing without connecting to a server so yes single player mode
  • Playing in Offline mode AFTER the login was successful (so the session keys are saved like the Java edition does)

I see why this is so confusing, should I change title to "Singleplayer mode"?

Easy way: Just create a Server in the backend and connect to it
You have a single player mode

The best thing if every world has an own server folder for the configs and op so: (If you keep the orig MC folder structure)
saves/{WorldName}/Server/server.jar
So in the Server config the world is at: ../../{WorldName}

@PureTryOut Why not modifying Cuberite to work as some kind of "internal server" for singleplayer?

from leafish.

PureTryOut avatar PureTryOut commented on August 23, 2024

Because Cuberite, currently at least, is not meant to be used that way. And I was thinking it would be easier to integrate a Rust-based server than a C++ one. Still in the end Cuberite compiles to native code so it shouldn't matter much.

Before any work is done it should be discussed with the Cuberite devs at least. There is no chance of this working out well if upstream does not accept the required changes.
