Should be possible, either by passing a "format" keyword like o (note the leading space) to plot(), or by exposing the scatter function yourself and then making a pull request ;)

Okay, that works very well. For anyone else needing this, simply do:

matplotlibcpp::plot(x, y, "o ");

from matplotlib-cpp.
