This is a common error if you don't have a working OpenCL. I'll try to
take a quick look to see if I can replicate tonight, but IIRC I have
scallion working on Arch. What GPU and drivers are you using?

You should make sure you have a working OpenCL install. Run some other, non-scallion OpenCL program. I used to use Bitcoin & Litecoin miners, but many of them have dropped GPU support.
