Glad you enjoy the script. It is definitely possible; however the plugin doesn't provide a mechanism to do it out of the box. Your approach of using jQuery cookies should work. What you will have to do is implement a means of serializing and de-serializing the grid into a cookie. Then, you will need to bind to the reordered callback and override the click handlers (for toggling between 'small' and 'large' bricks). Update the cookie for every change, then ensure on page load you reorder and add the appropriate small and large classes from your cookies.
