For those with this problem. Removing this line made it work:
event.preventDefault();

from jquery-smooth-scroll.

The exclude option is only available for $.fn.smoothScroll(), so you would do something like this instead:

$('#navbar ul.nav li a').smoothScroll({
  speed: 500,
  exclude: ['#blog']
});

Much easier. Of course, if you want to go manual, you could just add a .not() method, so it would start like this:

$('#navbar ul.nav li a').not('#blog').click(function(event) {

If you use $.smoothScroll() and remove event.preventDefault(), you run the risk of adding history states and breaking the back button.
