Parsing CLI output is also prone to breakage whenever its syntax changes. Neither solution is ideal, when hacking with user-facing software, this is just unavoidable.
I'll just push a fix to this soon like I have many many times in the past :p

I've also been trying to find a solution for this. Reinstalling Cartridges and Lutris didn't fix it and new games don't show either. It seems like it got broken a couple months ago, but the last update didn't fix it for me. If it's something on my end, I don't know what it could be.

I am also experiencing this issue with Flatpak'd Cartridges 2.8 and native Lutris 0.5.16. Cartridges is claiming "Installation Not Found" at /home/[user]/.local/share/lutris, even though the folder is populated.

I love Lutris chaning their internal folder names every other Tuesday

Considering that Cartridges already requires access to the org.freedesktop.Flatpak talk to function, could the Lutris CLI be used for importing? I'm speaking as someone who does not know how much effort that would take.

I'm sorry to hear there's no ideal long term solution for this. That's always unfortunate.
I can confirm Lutris is importing now.
Before the problem showed up, iirc any games that had cover images in Lutris would show cover images in Cartridges after being imported. For some reason importing from Lutris doesn't show any the cover images now.
I'm guessing it better to mention that here instead of making a new issue.

@randomname42 which Lutris version are you running?
from cartridges.
I'm using Lutris 0.5.16 from Flatpak. Discover doesn't show an update for Lutris so afaik it's the latest version.

@randomname42 Did you set vertical cover images for the games or horizontal ones? Only the vertical ones would show up, but if that is what you did then I cannot reproduce your issue.

I'm not sure if you're asking about how they're set in Cartridges or in Lutris. In Lutris they show as horizontal and in Cartridges covers show as vertical.
I don't see an option in either Cartridges nor Lutris to change the covers being vertical/horizontal. Where is that setting?
from cartridges.
Ah well then that's the issue. In Lutris, when you configure the game, you can set an icon, a vertical and a horizontal cover. Only the vertical ones you set will show up in Crtridges ^^
