But, we have modified the protocol little bit.
- We are not using "methods" exchange at the beginning of connection.
- We are not using the "links" field.
In terms of modularity, it is already separate from koding/kite because it is under another package.

As for "methods" exchange, we have discussed bring that feature back, IIRC. "links" is a misfeature, if you ask me. It slows down the common case for an edge case that really doesn't matter/should not exist. But you're right that it diverges from the dnode protocol.
