Interesting idea. But there is a problem: what do I store? The name or the ID?
If I store the name, it won't change if the team/user name changes.
If I store the ID, you will see that ID in the tables and export. Is that what you want?

Can you store the ID, but when it comes to display can you display the name so that both problems are solved. So one chooses the name but ID is the end result which goes into the system. And when it comes to reports alongside the ID the name could also be displayed so that one has both of the values as needed.

Thats the obvious solution. But its not that easy. I need to think about it.
Can you share your use-case for that feature?

We have defined users and as a user preference we have given the details of line managers. This field is important so that when every we export data we could email the specific line manager a report of the user also. Currently the data is entered manually and prone to errors. Or else as an alternative the team lead name from teams could be displayed but since a user could be part of multiple team there is always a possibility of multiple team leads appearing for one user. Since this is a line manager we would need one entry for that person but that person has to be from among the list in kimai. This way we could assign a user as a line manager. If its too complicated and not worth the effort then I could work by manually having the details updated.
