The essential idea is that baseUrl under requirejs-rails
is "managed" so that require.js and Sprockets work together properly. I had no concrete use-cases (and no requests) to change it, but lots of people breaking their app because they unecessarily set baseUrl. I'm all for providing a better mechanism for this.
In your environment is config.action_controller.relative_url_root
set to (for example) /subsystem_beta
? One approach would be to respect that Rails' config value, so the gem can just ensures it uses the configured prefix to find its assets. That change would be zero-config on your part, and would Just Workβ’ for a bunch of use cases.
Alternatively, I could simply make a param under config.requirejs
to set the prefix or outright override the full asset path. I'd prefer that vs ungating baseUrl, since it's less likely that folks will wander along and clobber that config value with something broken.
