Hello! Thanks for the interest!
This extension is in active development.
- The first Python kernel that will support debugging is the
xeus-python
kernel. It is not currently able to be installed withpip
(although you could file an issue in the kernel's repository requesting that as a feature. It can be installed from source ifconda
is an issue. - Other kernels will likely support the debugging protocol (basically the Visual Studio Debug Adapter Protocol on the
control
channel) in the future. But for now, the initial implementation and proof-of-concept for this functionality isxeus-python
. - We are targeting a release before the end of this year!

@AeneasZhu xeus-python
can now be installed with pip
(but not on windows atm):
pip install xeus-python
Could that work for your setup?

@jtpio Nope, it doesn't work. Acutually, xeus-python cannot install from pip on my computer.
OS: Win10 2004
Python version: 3.8.3 amd-64

Indeed, we haven't published a windows wheel yet. Please use the conda package on windows.

Closing, as support for the windows wheel is being discussed on the xeus-python
and xeus-python-wheel
repos.
See jupyter-xeus/xeus-python#181 for more information.
