I think there is a general issue with shapes on plotlyjs()

Actually in this case what happens is that the some of the series in the plot (the path series used for the errorbars) also gets filled to zero. Here's an image to exemplify:

Found the fix, one just needs the fillrange to be nothing in the :dodge case (and then it works in pyplot, gr and plotlyjs, I don't have the other backends installed). I guess I'll simple add the fix as part of the more general PR about errors.
