Can luxor use `latex formulas` ? about luxor.jl HOT 1 CLOSED

Hi! Well, Cairo doesn't do LATEX (installation would be even more difficult if it had to install a fully working TEX system), but there's a hint of it in the PANGO markup routines used by Cairo's pro text interface. I haven't looked into these very much, other than to write some documentation, so I've just got this:

and this is slightly broken in Cairo.jl anyway... (JuliaGraphics/Cairo.jl#201) :)

• so if you use the Pro text API, you can at least do superscripts (I think).

I usually post some source code as gists usually (https://gist.github.com/cormullion) but don't bother for the ones that are too large, too stupid, or too embarassing...

In that animation, the symbols are placed "by hand". I don't mind doing it once or twice, but generally avoid formulae.

I didn't know about Asymptote before starting work on Luxor; perhaps I would be using that now had I known about it. See https://github.com/sswatson/AsyPlots.jl for a recently developed Julia interface.
