You can do Text(string) in Julia 0.4.

Ok, this works fine:

x = Input("")
lift(Text,x)
push!(x,"Test")

except when I try to push!(x,""), which doesn't clear the output as I would have expected.

Currently, I'm just returning a string, but that's not as nice because it shows rather than prints.

@Keno can you give an example? If you can construct the string you want to print you should be able to just create a signal of that string right?

Okay, I understand the issue now. You want the quotes to go away and the text to not be monospaced. @stevengj does Text(string) escape HTML special characters like < and >?

Text outputs as text/plain, and therefore it need not do any escaping.
