for now, you can use ({name: "buildr", version: "0.0.1"}) (with parentheses) to make json. I'm not sure why Narcissus somehow presupposes that bare { .. } blocks are scope blocks and not objects.

Actually, I'm not convinced it's a good idea to have explicit support for JSON. Reviewing the JS spec, Narcissus (the JS lexer+tokenizer) is actually correct to assume a { ... } document is a scope block, and not an object literal.

On a side note, try compiling a:2 in CoffeeScript: you'll see it comes out as ({ a: 2 }) in JavaScript in it's attempt to make it valid.
