I'm not quite understanding what the renderer is. My current understanding of the structure is:
get data from indexer -> run through renderer (?) -> render onto web page of living infographic.

Am I understanding that process correctly? If I am, what is the context within which the renderer will act? Will it take all the data from the indexer, parse it or manipulate its structure so that it can easily be passed through the infographic (which I''m imagining as a collection of visualizations done with d3.js woven together to tell a story)?

"renderer" is a very high level term that generalizes a lot of the code which will produce the visualization in the browser.

the output of this issue, is a large chunk of JS/HTML. Any data manipulation will be handled upstream of this code.
