Hi!

We use to run just the unit test in travis until today, I just merged a couple of changes to run etcd along with the tests: 9512053

Basically it clones the etcd repository, checkouts a specific version, builds it and adds the executable to the path. There're probably better ways to do this (Using an ubuntu package, if there's any?) but then I would be tied to the available versions.

Nice, I thought you guys were running the etcd bin but I couldn't find in the code where it was, checking it out from git is a cool idea.

I can see only one alternative: asking the coreos guys to provide a server for integration tests ...

Thanks :-) The code you were looking for is in the .travi.yml, where I selected the etcd.test.unit (and excluded the integration tests):

bin/test etcd.tests.unit

About asking the coreos to provide their integration servers, I don't really mind compiling my own etcd, and for some tests, like those killing servers in a cluster, It would probably complicate things. Another alternative might be hosting our own etcd debian packages, but i don't know if this is worth it.
