No, most tests are run on both the api interface and at the http level, so that inheritance is intentional. If you want to run a test on the api alone, you should re-implement the test method in the chidren class, or create a master class instead. If you have your code somwhere I can take a look and suggest a solution; maybe create a PR?

OK. It just wasn't obvious why the tests were being run twice, so I thought it may have stumbled across a bug. I'll rework the tests I have - probably put them in a different class as you suggest.
Is it worth adding some comments about the tests being run twice so the next person coming along doesn't have to figure out what is going on as well?
