I was just coming back here to say the same thing as I found the same thread safaridriver. I'll close for now and continue using geckodriver to develop.

Actually on second glance I read the JSON wrong, it looks like it's sending the event to (0,0) relative to the element. But for some reason the click still isn't registering. I'll update the issue title.

Interesting, it looks like other people are experiencing the same issue with safaridriver with other drivers: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/123685. One workaround (as observed in that thread) is to use JavaScript to call .click() on the element instead. It seems like this isn't a bug with fantoccini though..
