It would be convenient for us to all store all the files (datasets, files we create from datasets, models, etc) in the same manner. However, the _ROOT variable should be different for all of us. Everything we process should be inside the _ROOT directory, whatever that is.

This is because:

  1. When I try to use code from online, one of the most annoying things is to change the paths to everything.
  2. Since the files are very large and some of us (like me) have limited SSD space, we might want to move it to a different disk. Other drives on linux is usually mounted in the /media directory, but in windows it's likely somewhere else (hence the need for the _ROOT variable)

  1. It's very annoying to move large amount stuff around. Sometimes I have to spend a very long time write bash files (I'm not an bash expert) just do that and nothing else. So say, if I run your preprocessing scripts and the files go exactly where I expect it to go, I can just load them and feed it into my model prototype without doing extra work.
