That's because in the latest several versions, I changed the way to control legends a little bit. All parameters for heatmap legend are controled by heatmap_legend_param
as specified as a named list.
In your case, change the code to:
Heatmap(mat, name = "ht1", top_annotation = ha,
heatmap_legend_param = list(color_bar = "continuous"))
from complexheatmap.
@jokergoo Thanks, it works now. While I was following the guide on bioconductor.org, I also noticed
column_hclust_height and row_hclust_width had changed to column_dend_height and row_dend_width
from complexheatmap.
I don't know which branch you are using now. The 'release' branch on Bioconductor is always old. Also I update very frequently on the 'devel' branch, so it may due to the changes of the API.

I am referring to the online doc at https://www.bioconductor.org/packages/release/bioc/vignettes/ComplexHeatmap/inst/doc/ComplexHeatmap.html. The 'devel' version also refers to the old param names
from complexheatmap.
I see, the one you looked at is the old one which should be deleted from bioconductor. Check this new vignette: http://www.bioconductor.org/packages/devel/bioc/vignettes/ComplexHeatmap/inst/doc/s5.legend.html

Got it. Thanks @jokergoo
