It's actually possible but kinda annoying. You will have to use the continue transition type (transition type can be found in the effects menu of an instrument) Then you would have to make the note you want to add on to into shorter segments as shown in the image. Be aware that if you don't make space between notes they will be much softer. Hopefully this helped!

It's annoying how this isn't a feature as it makes it hard to play certain types of beats concurrently. If anyone is having a hard time understanding what I mean just look at the image I sent.

The workaround is to make a new instrument (Ctrl+Enter). You can copy the instrument type and patterns over as needed. Make sure you're showing instruments from other channels (turn on in preferences), and this is a fairly painless solution.
