Hi,

Thanks for your interest.

By the way, do you have any plan to implement a reader?

I don't have any plans to tackle an XLSX reader.

Regards,

John.

While you don't plan to address read support, it would be good if there was perhaps some documentation explaining how best to integrate both read and write support in a cohesive environment. For example, I would like to read a user-defined excel template and then populate the template from an external source.

I presume I could use xlrd to read the file and auto-convert to XlsxWriter structure.

It would be good.

If you or anyone else would like to write it then I will add it to the Alternative modules for handling Excel files section of the XlsxWriter documentation.

In particular something like the xlutils for XlsxWriter would be useful.

Hi,

Almost 2 years later I haven't changed my mind about adding an Xlsx reader functionality so I'm going to close this issue.

Thank you for your input.
