A feature of this kind would require design review and careful code review. We currently have no cycles for that with GSoC happening at the same time.

At least don't override microphone volume from the OS.

We are not doing that. It's a feature the browser has called Acoustic Gain Control.

You could set autoGainControl to false to disable that behaviour.

I know. And we have a config option for that too. We just don't have a switch in the UI for it. Most of the times, it does the right thing.
