Dear Arnau, thanks for detailing the problem. I just pushed the most recent development version, where the login via username and password is removed and a private token needs to be provided. This version is tested with gitlab 11.6.
Note also that you can always use the private access token in the private_token parameter and leave username and password empty, also with older gitlabr versions (0.9 which is currently on CRAN). This way the session endpoint is never used, and older gitlabr versions can be used to connect to newer (>= 10.2.0) gitlab instances.
