Functionless? What do you mean?

@Jagabel identified a HUGE issue with the Jaws class, it's basically functionless. I'm going to make background levels and modify the story class accordingly if we cannot get Jaws functioning. @jhawz is helping by final code cleanup.

The class isn't working, @Jagabel is on it. Don't touch anything @Jagabel doesn't have time to deal with git issues that we get when you push. @Jagabel @jhawz and I have a handle on the situation.

I’m not touching anything. Just tell me how it’s not working.

You don't have to worry, it's not your problem anymore.

In short Jaws just stands there. He had no update method, no death method,
no movement method. He can use the Actor methods but when Enemy and Bond
were built Actor was largely ignored meaning that code that Bond and Enemy
use is not in Actor but in Bond and Enemy.

What it comes down to simply is that Jaws wasn't tested in our program environment. It may have been checked for compilation errors but before tonight Jaws was never constructed and put into the game.

Okay we're back to Jaws being immobile; when he runs he suddenly jumps to y position -64...

Had to cheat to fix that issue. For whatever reason Jaws refuses to follow normal tile collision rules...Anyway, he now walks and takes 12 hits to die.

avatar commented on August 16, 2024

Nice job dude, well the way we have it is that there is a martini so 12 hits is almost nothing. Any way to change that?

Alright,, Jaws fight is pretty much done as far as I'm concerned...
Now looking into a quick pair of issues:
backgrounds and exiting

from cs420-project.

Jagabel avatar Jagabel commented on August 16, 2024

Can't explain why...but removing tile collisions for the exit (so you can't stand on top of the exit) and then finishing the level as Rambo causes a seg fault...so I'm just leaving the collisions in. Just have to walk to the door, not jump on it...

Backgrounds load properly now. Closing the issue!
