Also related, I believe you can use ─┤ instead of ─│ in cases where a branch merges in or a branch branches out. You can see in the demo on the README for commit 39aa771c the graph could be made a little nicer?

You can see that tig represents the graph in a way that I think lazygit could.

Also, there are additional characters such as ┼, ┤, ├, ┴ and ┬ that are available to take advantage of. There is also ⎨ which might be good contender instead of ┤, although it isn't part of the box drawing character set. e.g.:
