Works for me. Installed it from Jenkins UI yesterday.

odd, I'm running the latest jenkins, 1.553, when I search for docker in available plugins all I get is "docker-build-step", I've manually scrolled through the list and I've used the search feature. What category is it suppose to be under? Thanks

vania-pooh avatar vania-pooh commented on August 29, 2024

It's under Manage Jenkins > Configure System > Cloud > Add a new cloud > Docker. Then you need to specify docker instance label in the build label.

I'm assuming you have to install a plugin though first? I don't see Cloud under "Configure System". I'm definitely not a Jenkin's expert. Thanks for the help.

I just looked through pluginManager/available again and there is no entry for this plugin? It is suppose to be there correct? Under which section and with what title?

I think "Slave Launchers and Controllers". It's version is 0.2

These are the only options I have under that category.

I have two times more links.

Thanks for helping! Once you confirmed that I dug a little more into it, seems that my Jenkins system hadn't updated the plugins properly. All is well now!

I got it installed, but I don't see how to tell Jenkins to start the container or use it for the build process?

To configure Jenkins to use Docker: go to Manage Jenkins and select
Configure System. At the bottom of that page, there should be a 'Cloud'
section with a drop-down to create a Docker cloud. That should get you
started.

I got that part figured out. Once that is setup, how do you tell a project/build to use it?

from docker-plugin.

vania-pooh avatar vania-pooh commented on August 29, 2024

You need to check "Restrict where this project can be run" checkbox in the build configuration and specify label from the docker configuration in the admin section (there's a field called "Labels" there).

Not only do I think install instructions are absolutely needed, but also usage instructions.

This thread looks like a user support.
General documentation in https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Docker+Plugin , other mostly follow docker feature plus there are help files.
