This is indeed very strange and at least it should not be happening during password retrieval as tty echoing has been explicitly disabled for that purpose (line 155). However, as you said you're getting the password printed out after this step, just after the package update step is finished (line 162) and package installation step has been started (line 163). As of now, I really have no idea why is that happening as password is being only piped to another command and not printed out explicitly.

I haven't noticed this problem on installations I've run but I will have this in mind when I will be running the one next time. If you happen to run the installation again please keep an eye on this one again and see if it is happening every time.
