Can we discuss on the call before committing to using Slack?

How about just using github discussions instead? (the casual chat mechanism built into github)
That way it's accessible for everyone, even those that are not participating in slack. (and searchable as part of the general search on this github project)

If there is an issue raised, sure we will discuss on the github. The slack is for some casual chat. Different people have different preferrence. By the way, the slack channel is not mandatory. Feel free to skip it. No decision is to be made there.
