It is in the works. We have requested a multicodec code for the next release of ISCC. See: multiformats/multicodec#252

Also the Instance-Code component of the ISCC is meant to be the prefix of a merkle tree based root hash of the identified content. I have considered to use CIDv1 for that. The main issue with that is, that it is hard to reproduce the dag-pb/unixfs tree hashing of IPFS. At least I did not have success with my attempts. I would be happy to take another look if you can point me to an IPFS compatible python implementation that produces compatible CIDs for data larger than 256kb :)

The usage of multihash (or even CIDs - https://github.com/multiformats/cid) for content identifiers, as well as IPLD for the metadata could be considered for improved interoperability with other Web3 applications.

We now use CIDv1 as the default hash for ISCC Metadata: https://core.iscc.codes/utilities/utils/#iscc_core.utils.cidv1_hex
