I'm attempting this right now using https://github.com/reem/rust-error, which I believe meets all of our criteria.
It is:
- Generic
- Recoverable
- Convertible
- Extensible
and most importantly it allows third-party errors to get the same treatment as first-part ones, which is critically important.
