Dear @RoelvandenBerg ,

from my point of view (as it is an essential characteristic of spatial data infrastructures) it is allowed to have more than one view service for one data set.

I found a reference in the TG for Spatial Data Services and services allowing spatial data services to be invoked that confirms this view:

4.2.1 Requirements for Spatial Data Services
For the spatial data sets and services for which metadata have been created, member states shall establish and operate at least one (but may decide to establish and operate more than one) of each type of network service defined in [INS DIR, Art. 11] for discovery, view, download and, if necessary, transformation.

Hope, this helps.

I agree with @hogredan, you are welcome to create as many view services as you like for a given spatial data set. I haven't seen any requirements saying that you are not allowed to do so, and indeed, visualisation in many different ways is useful in certain use cases.

Sidenote, to be complete: one view service may visualise data from more than one dataset, see also #30.

In short (in an INSPIRE context, where you must have at least one view service for a data set):

I think your question has been answered, but please feel free to re-open should you have any additional doubts.

Thanks for the response. And also thanks for answering another question I had, wether this would be an exotic solution (as per your answers: it is not).
