Did my best to fix the readme, to clarify exactly and fixed the example.txt to report the port number (which is what I believed to be the problem)

Port 3 seems to work WITH port numbers now, but breaks without them.

That doesn't seem like what was expected...

Should I update the README? Other than that, I think that this issue is closed.

It works for me without port numbers, as I updated example.txt and removed the port numbers. My mistake, WITHOUT port numbers is working for me as well. I'll go ahead and mark this issue as resolved.
