Using haml on asides about octopress HOT 5 CLOSED

I wish that were possible, unfortunately the way Jekyll generators work, Haml parsing can only occur on pages. I too would prefer to use Haml (for most everything) but currently this isn't possible without forking Jekyll. A much earlier version of Octopress used a Jekyll fork for Haml support, but it became stale, and I realized that being on core Jekyll offered too many advantages compared to forking it. I feel your pain and I hope that someday we'll be able to use Haml with Jekyll for much more, for now unfortunately it only seems to work with pages.

@fgro Jekyll doesn't support Haml for layouts. I don't know the reasoning behind that though.

One could easily include samvincent/jekyll-haml and instead of {% include includefile.html %} just use the diff. filter: {% haml includefile.haml %}...
To do this:

Gemfile: add `gem 'jekyll-haml'
plugins/haml.rb: add

require "rubygems"
require "bundler/setup"
Bundler.require(:default)

And for the bottom of this file, change the convert engine to global scope:

        # engine = Haml::Engine.new(content)
        engine = ::Haml::Engine.new(content)
